ADD and Autism I chose this topic of ADD and autism because I had heard of these two disturbs many generation before and had always wondered what they were. The subject of why pincerren act differently than others had always interested me since I was little. I have experienced and interacted with a young son that had autism before and I make that the way he interacted with me and others around him was fascinating. in advance researching, I knew that ADD and autism werent sicknesses like the flu or a cold. I also wanted to know what it was like when they become adults. Does the disorder go away? Or are th ere ways to cure or calm the symptoms down? I also wanted to research this topic because I wanted to know the difference between the two.I was always confused between ADD and autism and if some ane asked me what the difference was, I dont think I loud be able to give a good answer. My thesis going into this research paper is that ADD and autism seem very similar, almost the same, but as I go deeper into the topic, you will see that they are quite different. When we think of ADD and autism, we Just think of it as problems or disorders that make children not normal. After I researched about what each one was, I found an article comparing the two. Even though kids that dont have ADD sometimes have learning and behavioral disabilities, these symptoms are more prominent in a child with the disorder. Adults with ADD dont have the exact same symptoms as a child with the disorder. They may have difficulty with time management, organizational skills, refinement setting, and employment. The problems they face arent all dealing with work and profession. Adults might also face problems with personal subjects like relationships, self-esteem, and addiction s. The symptoms of children with ADD are normally categorized into three groups inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness. heedlessness has to deal with when the child gets easily distracted or has difficulty following directions. The second intervention is analysis of the resistivity.Murdock (2009) defines this type of intervention as a necessary awareness of the types of resistance a client may present. There are two types of resistance. These types are common resistance such as forgetting an appointment. The second type of resistance is flight into health (Murdock, 2009, p. 53). This resistance occurs when the client mistakenly believes one is getting better with their illness. The third intervention is dream analysis. When the therapist conducts dream analysis one can follow the guidelines limit forth in Freuds A General Introduction to Psychoanalysis (1920).In addition, there are multiple textbooks available to assist with dream analysis. much recent books allow the therapist to provide the client an interpretation in more modern terms. The primary object in the dream is the symbol. Each symbol has an interpretation usually based upon sex. Establishing the Relationship Therapists are required by the American Association of Christian Counselors Code of Ethics to maintain confidentiality regarding sessions. The client and therapist must be willing to impudence each other on a professional level in order for the therapy to be successful.As a therapist one must be willing to share a certain degree of disclosure with the client.
